A word about the team
My name is Andrew and I have over 15 years of experience building games. I built games on the PS3, mobile devices and desktop. Most of my experience is with the Unity game engine and I will be using it to build this game. I live in Brampton, Ontario and I always wanted to build a game similar to Black & White but with a few modifications.
We are comprised of an Artist on the team that will be doing all the 3D models and we also have a sound artist that will make the music and sounds for the game. I (Andrew) will be coding the game.
The game will be a modified Black & White game. There will be you (a god), a creature that will help you rule your empire, villagers that have to believe in you in order for you to be able to rule, your temple and other god(s) with their empire.
As a god, the actions you can take are pick up, drop or throw objects. The object you can interact with are rocks, parts of the terrain (to reshape your land), trees and villagers (only the ones that believe in you). There will be a circle around your village beyond which you cannot interact, this circle will grow as you complete the main quest and side quests.
The creature will have basic stats and these stats will be different based on the creature you choose. But the status can be upgraded based on the amount of points you will accumulate from completing quests. The stats that your creature will have, will also be different based on the love or hate people have for you. The upgrades will be different.
The villagers are there to believe in you and the more villagers you convert or conquer, the bigger your circle of influence. There will also be births in your village and their faith will depend on the parents beliefs.
Your temple will be the place where you can upgrade your creature, save games and see your story progression. You can also find hints on what to do next if you're stuck. If your temple gets destroyed by your neighboring village, you lose the game.
We are aiming to have the game evolve on the same map and new story elements get added as your circle of influence grows. There will be 2 story lines, one if you're loved and one if you're hated.
The game will be built with the Unity game engine and the 3D models will be done in Blender as this where we have our experience.
The game will be comprised, of a god, a creature, villagers, your temple and other god(s) with their empire. All of these will need to be created in the prototype. The 3D models will not be polished, there will be some sound but not fully polished and there will be some music but not fully polished at this phase. We will build the terrain and add the possibility to alter the terrain. We will also add feature such as picking up objects and dropping or throwing them. We will also add the creature and will work on some of the statistics that will need to be polished later.
This is just to build the skeleton of the game. Once completed, we will post footage of the prototype here. The footage will show gameplay.
Reason for crowdfunding
The reason that we decided to post this project on a crowdfunding website is because we all have 9 to 5 jobs and would like to create the project working fulltime on it. It will also allow us to complete it in timely manner.
You can find details about the game in the First Phase (Prototype). Once the prototype is finished, there will be footage of the prototype in that phase too.
In this phase, we will complete the creation of the desktop version of the game. The 3D models will be completed, there will be sound and music and there will be a story progression.
We will complete the functionality of the creature. There will have several creatures to choose from with different starting stats such as: a rabbit, a panda bear, a hyena and a wolf. We will add more creatures if we exceed the asked amount. We will show their stats in the temple and the upgrade system will be in place.
We will also add the villagers and the circle of influence. We will be able to convert or conquer other villages to join our empire. As this happens, we will have to manage more than one creature and upgrade them accordingly.
Depending on the amount we raise, we may also port to the game to Consoles such as the PlayStation, Xbox and Wii U.

In this phase, we will port the game to Virtual Reality using Unity. We will focus on mobile devices but depending on the amount we raise, we may port it to other platforms such as Oculus Rift and Vive. PlayStation VR will also be an option. We will cast a vote to find out what our contributors prefer and will focus on those platforms.
Polishing and publishing
After we are done fixing all the bugs and polishing the game, we will aim to publish the game to Steam and mobile devices for the VR version. We will also try to publish to Oculus Rift and Vive.
Depending on how much money we raise, we might also publish it to other platforms such as the PlayStation, Xbox and Wii U.
